Privacy Policy — Glossbook

Glossbook ("the app", "we", "our") is a personal beauty-product inventory app for iOS. This policy explains what happens to your data when you use Glossbook.

The short version

Glossbook does not have a server. There is no account, no login, and no sign-up. Everything you enter — products, usage logs, photos, notes — is stored only in the app's local storage on your device. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data, and we do not use analytics or advertising SDKs.

What data the app stores, and where

• Product and collection data (names, brands, categories, prices, dates, usage logs, notes) — stored locally on your device only, never uploaded anywhere.
• Photos you attach to products or progress updates — stored locally in the app's storage on your device.
• Label photos used for OCR autofill — processed entirely on-device using Apple's Vision framework. The photo itself is not saved and is not sent to any server.
• Widget data — a small snapshot of your collection is shared with the Glossbook home-screen widgets via an iOS App Group, which stays on your device.

Glossbook does not maintain a server-side copy of your data. Data stored by Glossbook can be removed by deleting it within the app or by deleting the app from your device, subject to iOS system behavior.

Glossbook does not itself upload, sync, or transmit your data to iCloud or any other service. However, your data is stored in the app's standard on-device storage, which means it may be included in your device's own system-level backups — for example iCloud Backup or a computer backup via Finder — if you have those enabled in iOS, the same as with most apps. This is standard iOS backup behavior and is controlled by your device settings, not by Glossbook. You can export a copy of your collection as a CSV file at any time from within the app.

Permissions the app requests

• Camera — to take a photo of a product or a product label. Used only when you choose to take a photo; nothing is captured in the background.
• Photo Library — to attach an existing photo to a product or product note.
• Notifications — to send local reminders (e.g. "log today's usage", Project Pan progress). These notifications are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device; no notification content is sent to any server.

You can revoke any of these permissions at any time in iOS Settings → Glossbook.

Third-party services

• Currency exchange rates — the app fetches current exchange rates from a third-party public API (open.er-api.com) so prices can be shown in your chosen currency. This request does not include any personal or product data — only a generic request for current rates.
• Product links — if you add a product "by URL", the app fetches the page you provide to read its publicly available title/image/price metadata. This request goes only to the URL you enter.
• In-app purchases — Premium purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. Glossbook never sees or stores your payment details; that information is processed and retained by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy.

Tracking and advertising

Glossbook does not track you across apps or websites, does not use advertising identifiers, does not show ads, and does not include any third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

Children's privacy

Glossbook is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, regardless of age, since no data ever leaves your device.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the update will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
